3. PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP: SEE THE PICTURE, TAKE THE PICTURE
  • Friday, August 24, 2018, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM
  • $27. Limited to 10 participants.
  • Meet at 7:45 AM at Festival Headquarters (Almanor Recreation Center) for a 15-minute basic introduction to composition with photographer Betty Bishop. Participants will then carpool approx. 15 minutes to location.
  • Bring a camera of any kind, wear shoes that can get wet, clothes that can get dirty, and walking stick if you need.
  • Activity level 2. Walking and standing for 1 ½ hours on dirt road and field.

DESCRIPTION
This photography workshop is for photographers of all levels and people interested in getting into photography. We will first learn the basics of composition and then get out and walk around north of the causeway, hoping to see some birds to photograph. If we don’t catch any birds, we will work on landscapes and waterscapes. We won’t get technical about the camera: this workshop is about being in the moment and taking a picture when you see the opportunity for a shot! Bring a camera of any kind (fancy is not necessary!), good shoes for walking and getting wet, and clothes that can get dirty.

TRIP LEADER: BETTY BISHOP
Chester native Betty Bishop is a self-taught photographer. She likes to say she will take a photograph of almost anything, but most of her work is of the area and wildlife around the Lake Almanor Basin. She enjoys kayaking on the lake, cross-country skiing, and hiking in the surrounding area, which provide her opportunities to closely observe, photograph the local bird population.
