Meet at 6:00 AM at Festival Headquarters (Almanor Rec Center) to carpool to Susanville, OR 7:00 AM at Uptown Cinemas on Highway 36 in Susanville. Group will drive to field trip site from there.
Bring water, sun protection, snacks, appropriate clothing and shoes for walking, and binoculars.
Activity level 3. Round trip approximately 4-mile walk.
DESCRIPTION Meet at Uptown Cinemas, 501 Main St., Susanville at 7:00 AM to carpool to Susanville Ranch Park. We will begin our bird walk at the end of Meadow View Drive in Susanville and walk along trails in the Susanville Ranch Park. The park provides different habitats for a diverse set of bird species. Along our walk we hope to hear and see Nashville Warblers, Western scrub-jays, Yellow Warblers, Bullock's Orioles, California Quail, Warbling Videos, and hopefully a Northern Goshawk, and probably many more. TRIP LEADER: DAN LIPP Dan Lipp has been a wildlife technician specializing in bird identification for over 10 years. He has birded and banded extensively throughout northern California. He is currently working for UC Davis doing Spotted Owl research.
