Plumas Audubon has supported the Caltrans Adopt-a-Highway program for a number of years. We have adopted a stretch of Highway 89 from the Hwy 70 junction (Greenville Wye) to Indian Falls. We have had a relatively small crew of dedicated volunteers who have maintained this section of highway to keep it litter free and to protect Indian Creek from pollution. We are seeking the help of our members to bring our stretch of Highway 89 back into good shape. We will meet at the Greenville Wye at 9:00 AM for a safety brief. All necessary gear will be provided. Bring water, lunch, sun protection, closed-toed shoes, and your enthusiasm! Please contact Faith Strailey, Audubon Board member, at (530) 283-2604 if you are interested. |
Join PAS lifetime member, hydrologist, and avian enthusiast, Kelby Gardiner, for a hybrid bird walk and stewardship event in celebration of Earth Day. Attendees will meet Kelby and PAS staff outside 429 Main St. in Quincy, CA, where supplies will be distributed and we will begin walking to Dellinger's Pond. Once we arrive at Dellinger's Pond, attendees can observe abundant avian species while cleaning up around the pond. Let's keep the birding hotspot that is Dellinger's Pond beautiful! |
Join PAS lifetime member and wildlife biologist, Colin Dillingham, for a spring bird walk throughout Sierra Valley. Meet at Maddalena Ranch, the East Entrance to the Sierra Valley Preserve, at 8 am. In addition to birding at the Feather River Land Trust's preserve, participants will be guided during additional birding opportunities on Marble Hot Springs Road. The tour will go until approximately 12 pm. PAS will provide a limited number of binoculars that can be borrowed during the tour. This field trip is free and open to members of the public of all ages. |
Let's Go Birding Together walks are for everyone who loves birds and the outdoors. We welcome those who identify as LGBTQ, allies, families, and anyone who wants to enjoy an outdoor experience that is inclusive. Why do we do this? Because the outdoors has not always been a welcoming place for LGBTQ people and Audubon wants help change that.
