 30. OLSEN BARN DOCENT & SELF-GUIDED TOUR
  • Sunday, August 26, 2018, 10:00 AM-1:00 PM
  • Free to walk-ins and wanderers.
  • Bring water, sun protection, walking shoes.
  • Activity level 2.

Feather River Land Trust (FRLT) invites you to visit the Olsen Barn Meadow. The Olsen Barn property is 107 acres of meadow, creekside forest, and wetland adjacent to the North Fork of the Feather River and part of the Lake Almanor Important Bird Area. With stunning vistas of Lassen Peak and exceptional wildlife habitat near the town of Chester, the property is best known for its 130+ year-old historic barn. The Olsen Barn property is both environmentally and culturally significant and has long been treasured by the surrounding community.

Feather River Land Trust will offer self-guided tours of the Olsen Barn Meadow and an informal information station to learn about this special property. FRLT staff will be on site to answer questions from 10am-1pm. All ages are welcome and friendly dogs are invited too (on leash please).  Be prepared for walking on un-even ground and exposure to sun and wind.

Directions: The Olsen Barn Meadow is located at the eastern entrance of Chester. It is directly across from the Bidwell House (1 Main St, Chester, CA 96020). Please Park off Highway 36 (also Main Street) in the dirt and grass parking area.  Walk across the meadow to the Barn. The meadow is closed to motorized traffic and please respect our neighbors’ private property. Need more info? Call 530-283-5758 or visit www.frlt.org/saveolsenbarn
