34. PONTOON BOAT TOUR ON LAKE ALMANOR (#12)
DESCRIPTION
Traveling by pontoon boat on beautiful Lake Almanor with majestic views of Lassen Peak, this trip will take participants to see Western and Clark’s Grebes on their floating nests (from the safe distance of 300 feet). While skimming across the water from a comfortable seat, you will have the opportunity to see many different species of birds. Some of the frequently seen species are Osprey, Bald Eagle, Common Merganser, White Pelican, Bufflehead, Double-crested Cormorant, Common Goldeneye, Eared Grebe, Ring-billed and California Gulls, Red-necked Phalarope, and Forster’s and Common Terns. Rarities including Parasitic Jaeger and Sabine's Gull are often seen as well.
TRIP LEADER: BRAD GRAEVS
After graduating from Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology Education, Brad Graevs spent the next six years aiding and conducting wildlife research and conservation in areas such as climate change, invasive-endemic interaction, agriculture, fuels reduction, post-fire monitoring, and habitat restoration from the Midwest to the remote Pacific. Recently moving back to Plumas County with his family to be a part of this amazing community, Brad joined the Plumas Audubon team as the GIS/Data Manager in 2016 and is now Project Manager using his variety of wildlife experience to ensure the work we do in the field is translated into viable information and that our projects are completed efficiently and effectively.

- $70. Limited to 14 participants.
- Meet at 11:30 AM at Majors Outpost, 3000 Almanor Drive West, Canyondam, CA, on the west shore of Lake Almanor at the Plumas Pines Resort.
- Bring water, sun protection, binoculars.
- Activity level 1 and 4. Travel on water, walking up and down the docks. Participants must be at least 10 years old (youth 10-17 must be accompanied by an adult).
