Plumas Audubon has supported the Caltrans Adopt-a-Highway program for a number of years. We have adopted a stretch of Highway 89 from the Hwy 70 junction (Greenville Wye) to Indian Falls. We typically conduct 2-4 highway clean-ups per year.
We have had a relatively small crew of dedicated volunteers who have maintained this section of highway to keep it litter free and to protect Indian Creek from pollution. We are seeking the help of our members to bring our stretch of Highway 89 back into good shape. This year's first clean-up is scheduled in conjunction with Earth Day weekend.
We meet at the Greenville Wye for a safety brief. All necessary gear will be provided. Bring water, lunch, closed-toed shoes, and your enthusiasm!
Please contact Faith Strailey, Audubon Board member, at (530) 283-2604 if you are interested in participating in the next clean-up.
